Tra pochi giorni entreremo nel 2024, anno del trentennale della costituzione dei Vocalica, sestetto vocale a cappella nato a Padova e poi diventato anche parecchio emiliano. Nell’estate del 1994 Alberto, Andrea e Fabio hanno deciso di ampliare la propria esperienza nella musica vocale passando dal più tradizionale coro maschile al piccolo ensemble a parti reali, prima sestetto, poi quintetto poi ancora sestetto con una configurazione inizialmente solo maschile, poi mista, molto peculiare, con un’unica voce femminile che si fonde nelle armonie. Incantati dalla magia vocale di gruppi come The Swingle Singers, Take Six e poi The Housejacks, The Real Group, The M-Pact hanno inizialmente cercato di trascrivere e riprodurre quegli arrangiamenti così complessi oltre a sfruttare la grande biblioteca di spartiti della Contemporary A Cappella Society of America (CASA), nata in USA nei primi anni ’90, per poi passare a realizzare ed eseguire arrangiamenti originali di brani italiani e internazionali che hanno avuto sempre ottimi riscontri di critica e di pubblico; una piccola parte, ma importante, è costituita anche dalla produzione di brani originali firmati da Alberto. Il mondo della musica pop a cappella italiana in quegli anni era molto ristretto ma appassionato con gruppi più o meno duraturi, amatoriali e non, che hanno lasciato il segno soprattutto per la determinazione a farsi sentire non solo in Italia ma anche all’estero: in ordine sparso Jazz’n Jam, Alti e Bassi, L’Una e Cinque, Mezzo Sotto, Temporale, Blue Penguin solo per citare alcuni nomi di gruppi coevi con cui si è creata una grande amicizia e anche un po’ di sana rivalità; senza dimenticare i Neri Per Caso, grandi professionisti che hanno fatto conoscere la musica a cappella italiana contemporanea al grande pubblico. Proprio dalla condivisione di visioni e passioni musicali si è evoluta la formazione dei Vocalica con l’ingresso nel gruppo di Davide e Marco (già Jazz’n Jam e Temporale) e infine di Silvia, stabilizzando la formazione a partire dal 2005. Si sono esibiti in gran parte d’Italia e in diversi paesi europei ma oltre all’attività live hanno sempre perseguito anche l’attività in studio di registrazione con la produzione di alcuni CD che sono stati distribuiti in ambito nazionale internazionale e più di recente in distribuzione digitale (esplorate il catalogo Preludio). Dicono i Vocalica: ”Abbiamo interrotto l’attività live nel dicembre del 2019 ma abbiamo contemporaneamente aperto gli archivi di materiale registrato per ripercorrere la nostra storia; abbiamo così ritrovato alcuni brani registrati nel 2011-2012 in vari studi ma soprattutto al Wire Studio con Alessandro Filoramo, tre dei quali sono stati mixati dal “padrino” della produzione a cappella internazionale, il grande Bill Hare, che dalla California ci ha proposto la sua visione di alcuni classici della musica pop da noi arrangiati e interpretati. Ci è venuta voglia quindi di festeggiare il trentennale con un nuovo CD: siamo partiti dai tre brani “americani” (Not That Kind, Snow On The Sahara ed Every Breath You Take) per poi passare a Broken Wings registrato nello stesso periodo al Wire Studio e a Micheal Medley, registrato live in studio a Vicenza da Marco Sabbatini per sonorizzare dei videoclip; last but not least Whose Side Are You On? registrato recentemente nello studio di Alberto (featuring Tiziana Guerra e Giuseppe Murineddu); gli ultimi tre brani sono stati prodotti interamente da noi insieme ad Alessandro: un mix di antico e di nuovo che non vediamo l’ora di farvi ascoltare! Abbiamo scelto la forma fisica del CD rispetto al digitale per poter proporre anche una bella veste grafica, opera di Alessandro, che nasconde dei particolari che vi invitiamo a ricercare; inquadrando il QR presente nella copertina arriverete ad una pagina del nostro sito con ulteriori informazioni sulla realizzazione in continuo aggiornamento. Un’ultima parola sul titolo: Last Train To Harmony… si potrebbe vedere come qualcosa di malinconico, di conclusivo, mentre per noi è un’esortazione a salire quel sul treno, non farlo scappare, perchè non c’è niente di meglio per il fisico e la mente di unire le voci in una perfetta armonia!”

In a few days we will enter 2024, the year of the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of Vocalica, a cappella vocal sextet born in Padua and then also quite Emilian. In the summer of 1994 Alberto, Andrea and Fabio decided to expand their experience in vocal music by moving from the more traditional male choir to the small ensemble with real parts, first sextet, then quintet then again sextet with an initially only male configuration, then mixed, very peculiar, with a single female voice that blends into the harmonies. Enchanted by the vocal magic of groups such as The Swingle Singers, Take Six and then The Housejacks, The Real Group and The M-Pact, initially Vocalica tried to transcribe and reproduce those complex arrangements as well as taking advantage of the large library of sheet music of the Contemporary A Cappella Society of America (CASA), born in the USA in the early 90s, and then moving on to create and perform original arrangements of Italian and international songs that have always had excellent feedback from critics and audiences; a small but important part is also made up of the production of original songs signed by Alberto. The world of Italian pop music a cappella in those years was very restricted but passionate with more or less long-lasting groups, amateur and not, who left their mark above all for their determination to make themselves heard not only in Italy but also abroad: in no particular order Jazz'n Jam, Alti e Bassi, L'Una e Cinque, Mezzo Sotto, Temporale, Blue Penguin just to name a few names of contemporary groups with whom a great friendship and even a bit of healthy rivalry have been created; without forgetting Neri Per Caso, great professionals who have made contemporary Italian a cappella music known to the Italian general public. It was precisely from the sharing of visions and musical passions that the formation of Vocalica evolved with the entry into the group of Davide and Marco (formerly of Jazz'n Jam and Temporale) and finally of Silvia, stabilizing the line-up starting from 2005. They have performed in most of Italy and in several European countries, but in addition to live activity they have always pursued the activity in the recording studio with the production of some CDs that have been distributed nationally, internationally and more recently in digital distribution (explore the Preludio catalog). Vocalica say: "We stopped the live activity in December 2019 but at the same time we opened the archives of recorded material to retrace our history; so we found some songs recorded in 2011-2012 in various studios but especially at the Wire Studio with Alessandro Filoramo, three of which were mixed by the "godfather" of the international a cappella production, the great Bill Hare, who from California offered us his vision of some classics of pop music arranged and interpreted by us. So we wanted to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary with a new CD: we started with the three songs mixed by Bill (Not That Kind, Snow On The Sahara and Every Breath You Take) and then moved on to Broken Wings recorded in the same period at the Wire Studio and Micheal Medley, recorded live in the studio in Vicenza by Marco Sabbatini to soundtrack video clips; last but not least Whose Side Are You On? recently recorded in Alberto's studio (featuring Tiziana Guerra and Giuseppe Murineddu); the last three tracks have been produced entirely by us together with Alessandro: a mix of old and new that we can't wait to make you listen to! A final word on the title: Last Train To Harmony...
