This
Italian sextet serves up some finely tuned harmonies on this, their
sophomore release. Just like the fine whiskey that graces the cover
of their CD, these arrangements of popular American and Italian
pieces is sure to go down smooth. Okay, enough with the liquor puns
- this is a good CD. Solid arrangements by group members Alberto
Schiavinato and Marco Bottazzi (among others) lend a cappella creds
to their jazz-pop sound. Opening cover of Yes' 'Owner of a Lonely
Heart' is VERY nicely done, with synth-like vocals and really tight
vocal percussion. 'Shine On You Crazy Diamond' does Pink Floyd justice,
but then they turn around and do smooth Italian jazz on 'Desafinado.'
That's the kind of versatility that this group has! They can even
do a respectable Lionel Ritchie! (Is that an accomplishment? We're
not quite sure yet..) This is a very good follow-up album to their
holiday release 'E' Natale!' (also available at a-cappella.com).
We knew they could do it! All a cappella. Bere con gusto! (55:46
